BEO of California condemns racist and physical attacks directed towards Mayor Hernandez-Thorpe



ANTIOCH, CA- The Black Elected Officials of California (BEO), formerly known as the Black Elected Officials of the East Bay, has issued an open letter, condemning the recent and persistent racial and physical attacks against Mayor Lamar Hernandez-Thorpe. This letter comes to ensure the physical safety of Mayor Hernandez-Thorpe and his family, particularly as “The vile and horrendous acts that have been directed towards Mayor Hernandez-Thorpe are inexcusable,” stated Supervisor Wanda Williams of Solano County, District 3, and President of the BEO. “We must be vigilant in dismantling racism and discrimination and maintain a zero tolerance against bully tactics and attacks against our Black leaders.”


The Black Elected Officials of California stands united with Mayor Lamar Hernandez-Thorpe and other African American and Black identifying elected and appointed leaders to ensure that racism, discrimination, bullying, and other unfair and unacceptable treatment of our elected leaders is eradicated and addressed, holding other leaders throughout the state of California accountable.
